Two Level 1 Officiating Courses This Fall – Register Now!

Course in Victoria

A level 1 Rugby referee couse is taking place at James Bay Rugby Club on Sunday November 9th with John de Goede is the course educator.
If you or anyone you know are interested in in starting up as an official please share and register!

Register now for a Level 1 Officiating Course in 2025/26! Courses are open to participants aged 14+ and include both classroom and on-field components.

Courses will take place on the following dates and locations:

  • November 9, 2025 – James Bay AA (MacDonald Park, Victoria) – 9:00am-4:00pm PST

Courses cost $100 plus taxes. Must be 14+ to take the course.

Certification lasts as long as you actively officiate and complete the ongoing education – no need to repeat each year!

Age banding has aligned with BC Rugby and Rugby Canada:

U15 – Birth years 2010, 2011

U17 – Birth years 2008, 2009

U19 – Birth years 2007, 2006

    • Joining of Tide and Tsunami to form the Junior Crimson Tide.

    BC Bears Pathway

    • Identification primarily through PRL and PRC’s.

    📢 BC U19 Men's Rugby Skills Sessions Announced! 🏉

    BC Rugby and the BC Bears U19 Men’s team are excited to offer regional skills development sessions ahead of the upcoming representative rugby season. These non-selection, skill-focused sessions are open to all U19 BC Rugby-registered players looking to improve their fundamentals under the guidance of BC U19 Assistant Coach Logan Martin-Feek and regional provincial coaches.

    No experience needed! If you’re eager to grow as a rugby player and sharpen your skills, this is a great opportunity.

    Who Can Attend?

    • Any U19-eligible rugby players currently registered with BC Rugby
    • Players of all experience levels welcome

    What to Expect

    • Fundamental skill-building sessions
    • Coaching from provincial-level coaches
    • No pressure—these are not tryouts or ID sessions

    How to Register

    Players must be registered with BC Rugby. If you are not yet registered, you can do so here: BC Rugby Registration

    Comox 2024 Success!

    Comox Valley Rapids Rugby finished a fantastic day of rugby on Dec 8 as they claimed both the U16 and U18 Girls Provincial Championships at Starlight Stadium.

    The U16 team produced a fantastic performance to stun their mainland rivals Abbotsford. Building on a 14-7 half-time lead they scored a flurry of 2nd half tries to finish an intense and thrilling final with a 29-7 final score.

     

    The U18 team followed with a down to the wire, tenacious performance. Abbotsford took a two try lead by the half but Rapids showed determination in their second half comeback with 2 tries and a conversion to win it in the final minutes of the game.

    Thank you for the fans who braved the chilly weather, to Abbotsford for  being a formidable opponent and to BC Rugby for a great day!
